Tyropitakia (baked)

Ingredients: for ca. 25 pieces
  • 200 grams Yoghurt
  • Baking powder
  • 200 grams Flour
  • 200 grams Feta cheese crumbled
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 30 ml olive oil
  • 1 whisked egg with a few drops of lemon
Total time: 120 minutes

This recipe is quite easy but really yummy. First you put all of your ingredients in a large bowl.

Mix them together until you get a fluffy dough.

When the dough is ready, cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rest for about 5 mins. After that you grease your hands with a little bit of olive oil and take out some dough and put it on your palm.


Preheat the oven on 200°C. Now it depends on how big you want your Tyropitakia. My aunt always forms the dough into little half moons. When you do so you should get about 25 pieces out of this amount of dough for one baking sheet.

Now you place one after the other dough half moon on your baking plate that you first cover with non-stick baking paper.
When you're done you take your whisked egg and cover each piece with a pastry brush. This gives your tyropitakia a nice shiny crust.


Put your baking plate into the middle of your oven and lower the temperature to 175. Bake them for about 15-20 mins. Your kitchen will soon be crossed by a fantastic cosy smell..
You can enjoy your tyropitakia as a snack with any kind of dip or you can serve them as a side dish to any kind of meat or pasta dish.
Sit down and enjoy one right after taking them out of the oven or serve them chilled.
